INDUSTRIAL BALLET is an evening-length dance and live music super-show from prolific Seattle-based Choreographer and Director Kate Wallich and her company, The YC. Inspired by the transgressive industrial music of the 80s and 90s, this darkly glittering production brings together Wallich’s world-renowned dancers with stellar Seattle musicians performing a live score by Musician and Producer Johnny Goss (Cock & Swan, La Luz, Lonesome Shack). Wallich’s captivating brand of movement has been described as a mix of virtuosic contemporary ballet, club kid moves, smooth athleticism, and post-post-modern dance tropes with an added dose of fashion, highly crafted design, and pop culture.
Commissioned and produced by Velocity Dance Center in partnership with Seattle Theater Group with underwriting from Case Van Rij. Industrial Ballet premiered March 26, 2016 at The Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington.
